Mentoring

Mentoring

Mentoring is available for anyone in the training or behaviour industry, or those working with domestic pets who have an interest in behaviour (e.g. dog walkers, home boarders, breeders, vets, vet nurses etc).

Mentees join a private discussion group which I check each working day, respond to posts and generate discussion points.

Posts can be made about anything related to dog, cat or rabbit training or behaviour. Share anonymised case queries, your own training videos for feedback or tips, discuss business strategies, marketing etc – get support from your peers (and provide support for your peers) and get involved in discussions. Advice will be given (within the remits of a written response) and video demonstrations provided where relevant.

One monthly online group catch up is included for more detailed chats – with the option of at least two different days/times per month.

FREE access to all pre-recorded webinars (worth over £115)

10% discount on all monthly Interactive Online Case Studies

10% discount on any 1-2-1 online mentoring sessions

TESTIMONIALS

“Rosie is an amazing mentor. She is extremely supportive and knowledgeable, and I am very grateful for having had the opportunity to be a part of her mentorship program.”

“Rosie’s mentoring group has been absolutely amazing! It is a lovely place where we can discuss different scenarios and cases with the others in the group. Rosie holds monthly chats to discuss different topics and has an incredible wealth of knowledge and expertise.”

“Being part of Rosie’s mentoring group is like having your very own … mentor! I love the accessibility and the quality of the advice.  A non-judgemental group where I can be sure to get genuine help.”

“Fantastic and supportive! Highly recommend to any companion animal professional.”

“Rosie has created a wonderful space to connect and share ideas with other like-minded professionals with a variety of experience and backgrounds. Topics have been thought provoking and diverse. The group is very welcoming and I have found the monthly opportunity to meet and chat through a topic in depth is extremely valuable. I find it reassuring to know I have a group I can talk through ideas with, check training plans or problem solve with. I’ve found it particularly useful learning more in-depth about other animals I may encounter when working with cases and necessary considerations when working in multi-pet/species households.”

FAQs

£27 paid on the 1st of each month by direct debit – free to cancel anytime.

  1. No – there is huge value in learning about each species even if you only work with an individual species. As the most common household pets, cases frequently involve multi-species homes and advice sometimes needs to be given for another animal in the home, either for welfare reasons or because there is an impact on the animal that has been referred to you.

No – if you are a trainer (running classes or 1-2-1 sessions), dog walker, home boarder, vet, vet nurse or anyone else who works with domesticated pets, you can join. I am a huge believer that anyone who works with animals need to have a good understanding of behaviour and emotions, and that all behaviourists need to be able to train the animals they work with.

‘Slack’ is used for both the discussion group and for the monthly video chats (known as ‘Huddles’– you do not need to have your camera on if you prefer not to). This can be downloaded as an App, or you can login on the Slack website if you find it easier from a computer.

It is entirely up to you – you can make use of the mentoring service in whatever way you wish but you cannot dip in and out of paying for membership. I login each day to reply to posts or prompt discussions (Mon-Fri) – how much you engage with the posts and the group is entirely your choice.

Each month two different dates & times are offered for you to join one of the Huddles.

There will be a limit to how many mentees there will be to ensure that everyone gets an appropriate amount of support. Registrations will only open as and when places become available, ready for the start of the next month.

These are online (not on Slack) structured, real-life behaviour case study to work through as a group. Each one lasts around 2.5 hours and involve open discussion via video or typed chat (depending on your preference). You will be provided with initial information (anonymised) about the case that was provided to me before I saw the client. You will then work together to gain a full history from me pretending to be the client (I will guide you if necessary). As a group you will discuss possible differentials and come to a decision regarding a likely diagnosis. We then discuss options for a behaviour modification programme. We also cover how to build rapport with the ‘client’, how to maximise client compliance, how you will measure success going forward, liaison with the referring vet, and what your follow-up support would look like. The cost to mentees is £36.

Yes – these are available to anyone (not just mentees), but as a mentee you receive a 10% discount. If there is anything you would like to discuss privately, or something specific or complex that requires more time than I can provide in the discussion group or in our group monthly Huddles, a 1-2-1 can be arranged. These last an hour and are £90 to mentees.

You can do whatever you like! You can never have too much support from other experienced professionals.
